This event features an ensemble created by JoVia Armstrong called Eunoia Society which is comprised of various projects with different ways in which music is created and different purposes for creating music. This particular event features a few members of Celestial Roads whose purpose is to create music using live instruments with parallel effects processing. Performers will be Leslie DeShazor on viola, Elden Kelly on guitar and JoVia Armstrong on percussion and electronics. The compositional works of Celestial Roads is an attempt to explore and re-imagine the concepts of visionaries such as Sun Ra in a more modern way to create music that takes the audience into different, subjectively beautiful spaces.
This program features 3 members of Celestial Roads and was created to offer a telematic performance to anyone looking to do a bit of cognitive space traveling through music. Leslie DeShazor will be located in Detroit, MI. Elden Kelly will be on guitar from Lansing, MI. And JoVia Armstrong will perform from Los Angeles. As it is difficult to create a fully immersive show online, Celestial Roads will create sound palettes through the genre of experimental music from the jazz canon using effect processing with the help of composer and technologist Teerath Majumder controlling the technical aspect of the performance.
